MOIRÉ

MOIRÉ no.1
Moiré is a visual perception that occurs when viewing 2 transparent or semi-transparent layers of lines or dots that are superimposed on one another. Typically this effect is unwanted in photography and/or electronic reproduction, but I really like how it produces interesting and beautiful patterns. The MOIRÉ series is a new addition to the B&W section in my shop and can be found here.

SUMMER LOTUS

SUMMER LOTUS no.2
SUMMER LOTUS is a re-working of the original LOTUS series I did in 2013. Always in pursuit of geometry and abstract order I really just wanted to change the colour relations and the structure by refining the flower shapes and the background geometry. Here are both the first as well as the new LOTUS series.

LANDSCAPE & BEYOND

LANDSCAPE & BEYOND no.270
The LANDSCAPE & BEYOND series is an expression of how I see my life and art in relation to a sense of connectivity with the world around me. Living so close to the Rocky Mountains makes the mountains awfully difficult to ignore, especially when on any given day they look so completely different from the day before. Visit here to see the full series.

OMNIA

OMNIA no.7
Abstract is a word with myriad meanings. In the case with the OMNIA series, it is a readiness to live in the present yet looking forward, backward and sideways and as always.. inward.

SAIL

SAIL no.2
This series is similar in texture and richness of colour to the ENTWINE series and is also presented on a beautiful heavy canvas texture. These pieces are aptly named SAIL as they are abstractly reminiscent of sailboats on a lake. Check out the rest of the series on Etsy here or on my online shop here.

ENTWINE no.1
ENTWINE no.2
There is something completely fascination about abstract geometric design. It's boundaries have been tested for decades and the possibilities are truly enormous, intriguing and infinite - so here, yet another geometric design. This series is called ENTWINE and is presented on a beautiful heavy entwined canvas texture. Available here.

UNCOLORED

UNCOLORED no.2
Black and white art and photography always adds a timeless quality and brings more focus to the contrast and textures rather than being distracted by colour. My "UNCOLORED" series are geometry studies that are much like pencil drawings and are all about contrasting shapes, lighting and textures. Available here.

BOULEVARD

BOULEVARD no.1
BOULEVARD is inspired by mid-20th century design using a colour palette that was inspired by the incredible set design of the show Hannibal which has an incredible moody and richly adorned mid century modern aesthetic. My ultimate goal with BOULEVARD was to create pieces that depict an abstract structural setting and mood. Prints of this series are available here

FREE FORM II

FREE FORM II no.4

As with the FREE FORM series that conveys and captures transparent vessels when layered against a bright backdrop, the FREE FORM II series is a kind of dusk version. Veiled as if by curtains this series is very tactile and monochromatic. As with the FREE FORM series it too conveys the absence of foreground and background and all elements have a serene and quiet interplay.

IN PIECES

IN PIECES no.23
This new series is titled IN PIECES and is created with architecturally textured quasi rectangular shapes which are drastically contrasted in form by the vibrant and perfect circles. Very mid century modern influenced and inpired.

SLOPE

SLOPE no.18
The SLOPE series is inspired by the Rocky Mountains, which are near to where I live. Each time I visit the mountains I am completely captivated and awestruck by its rugged beauty. Depending on the time of year and day, the shadows and colours shifting on the slopes makes each visit an incredibly unique experience.

PERCEPTION

PERCEPTION no.2

We all recognize objects and assign labels to those objects in order for us to be able to categorize and identify them. The PERCEPTION series is a play on that ability for us to distinguish one object from another.

FREE FORM

FREE FORM no.75

FREE FORM no.74
With the FREE FORM series I am trying to convey and capture that sense of overlapping and mingling of colours when translucent forms are layered against a bright backdrop. There is no sense of foreground or background and all elements work as a whole not allowing the eye to focus on any singular shape for long.

EBB

EBB no.13
I really like how artists incorporated natural materials such as raw linen and canvas in mid century modern art and these materials were often used as backgrounds for modernist ceramic reliefs and inked metal plaque etchings. I have a few pieces around the house that are like that and I really felt compelled to try and emulate that aesthetic yet also keep it fairly contemporary. Available here.

KITE

KITE no.26
Kite flying was always one of my most favourite pastimes when I was a kid. Later on in life as an adult I upgraded to stunt kites which are extremely thrilling to fly as they require quick reflexes and strength. These stunt kites usually come in bright and bold contrasting colours which was part of the inspiration for this series.
